This Privacy Policy describes how ILLUSION Tech Limited (“ILLUSION”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use PlayStory (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information: when you create an account, we collect your display name, email address, and (when you sign in with a third-party identity provider such as Sign in with Apple) the unique identifier that provider returns. We do not receive your password from those providers.
• Profile and uploaded content: profile photos, bios, video uploads, story bundles, captions, comments, and any other content you submit through the Service.
• Communications: messages you send to support, feedback you submit, and reports of abusive content or behavior.

Information collected automatically

• Playback and usage events: which content you view, how long, and from which device, used to operate the Service, surface recommendations, and report aggregated viewership to creators.
• Device and technical information: device model, operating system version, app version, language preference, IP address, and approximate geolocation derived from IP. We do not collect precise GPS location.
• Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data used to identify and fix bugs.

2. How We Use Information

• operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
• authenticate users and secure accounts;
• personalize content recommendations and home page layout;
• compute aggregated viewership statistics for creators;
• moderate the Service and enforce our Terms of Service;
• communicate with you about updates, security alerts, and support;
• comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

• Service providers: we use third-party infrastructure providers — including Cloudflare for content delivery, edge compute, and storage — that process information on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect it.
• Identity providers: when you sign in with Sign in with Apple, that provider receives the information needed to authenticate you. Their handling of your data is governed by their own policies.
• Other users: content you make public on the Service (videos, stories, comments, profile information) is visible to other users. Aggregated, non-identifying engagement data (e.g., view counts) may be shown to creators of the content you watch.
• Legal and safety: we may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, necessary to enforce our Terms, or necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of ILLUSION, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: if we merge, are acquired, or sell assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Data Retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active and for a limited period afterward to comply with our legal obligations and resolve disputes. Playback events and diagnostics are retained in aggregated or anonymized form. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us; on deletion, we will remove or anonymize your personal information except where we are legally required to retain it.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, port, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information. To exercise these rights, reach us at story.app/contact. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

6. International Transfers

ILLUSION operates from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and our service providers may store and process your information in jurisdictions other than your own. Where such transfers occur, we rely on standard contractual clauses or comparable safeguards to protect your information.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you (for example, by email or in the Service) before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was most recently revised.
